Strikes, Industrial Action and Homeworking—Insights From Two Disputes

Andy Hodder

ABSTRACT

This research note explores the ways in which trade unions have been able to successfully take industrial action in response to changes in homeworking policies in the UK. Drawing on media data collected in the form of an event catalogue, findings from the two disputes (in the UK's civil service and in a high school in the northwest of England) provide unique insights as to how the ripple effects from the Covid‐19 pandemic and the subsequent shift to flexible working continue to impact employment relations today.
