Solvent-free room-temperature synthesis of brightly luminescent [BMPyr]2[SnCl4]

[BMPyr]2[SnCl4] can be prepared just by shaking the starting materials at room temperature and followed with the naked eye via its increasing deep-red emission. With optimised conditions intense emission with 88 ± 3% quantum yield occurs.
