So, what…? a reflection on Nordic gifted education from Scotland
Margaret SutherlandChapter 15 is written from the perspective of a teacher/teacher educator. Having read the previous chapters, the author considers what this book means for teachers, teacher education, inclusion and gifted education. The chapter starts by briefly considering Nordic countries’ commitment to the promotion of social equity. Having set the context for an inclusive approach to education, the rest of the chapter explores what the book means for teachers, teacher education, inclusion and gifted education. The chapter concludes by strongly encouraging Nordic countries to remain steadfast in their inclusive approach to gifted education and general education. In an increasingly uncertain world, it calls for teachers, teacher educators, researchers and policy makers to work together and continue to uphold the important Nordic principles of inclusion, equity and social justice.
