A mononuclear 8‐coordinate Fe(II) compound, [FeII(L1)2](CF3SO3)2 (1), was prepared from the reaction of a neutral tetradentate ligand (L1 = N2,N9‐dibutyl‐1,10‐phenanthroline‐2,9‐dicarboxamide) and hydrated Fe(CF3SO3)2 in MeOH. 1 could be considered as an ‘ideal’ 8‐coordinate Fe(II) compound as compared with the previously reported Fe(II) analogs, because all the terminal Fe‐O bond lengths are in the normal range. The magnetic properties investigation shows that 1 exhibit field‐induced slow magnetic relaxation behavior.
