Single-Port Robotic Ileostomy Reversal Through the Stoma Site With Ileotransverse Anastomosis: A Technical Video
Sarmad Mohammed Salih, Garnett Vanterpool, Ahmed AllawiThis video demonstrates the use of the single-port (SP) robotic system for ileostomy takedown through the existing stoma site in an 82-year-old female with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and type 2 diabetes. Four months earlier, she underwent exploratory laparotomy, right hemicolectomy, and ileostomy for bowel ischemia. After an uneventful recovery, she was scheduled for ileostomy reversal using the SP robotic platform. The video demonstrates platform setup with execution of the single-port access port. The key procedural shows the benefits of the SP approach, including reduced invasiveness and enhanced recovery. The patient was discharged on postoperative day one and recovered smoothly. This video is intended to illustrate the applicability of SP robotic platform to ileostomy reversal through the stoma site, with attention to technical strategy, instrument limitations, and operative decision-making relevant surgeons adopting this approach.
