Abstract

Ankle arthrodesis is a standard and common treatment for end-stage ankle arthritis. Triple arthrodesis is a surgical procedure that involves fusing three hindfoot joints: the sub-talar joint (between the talus and calcaneus), the talo-navicular joint, and the calcaneo-cuboid joint. This procedure is typically performed using either a combined medial and lateral approach or a single medial incision. In contrast, ankle arthrodesis can be approached through a single incision from the anterior, medial, or lateral side or using a combined medial and lateral approach. We hereby present a single-incision lateral approach for combined ankle and triple arthrodesis using Charnleys compression device and cannulated cancellous (CC) screws in a treated right ankle osteomyelitis with arthritic changes.
