Abstract

In India, cervical cancer ranks as the second most common cancer among women with an estimated 127,526 new cases and 79,906 deaths in 2022. Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) is the premalignant lesion of the cervix characterized by neoplasia in the transformation zone of the cervix. The current conventional management strategy of CIN I is limited to conservative surveillance. In the present single case report, a 37-year-old female diagnosed with cervical dysplasia CIN I with a Swede score of 7/10 was diagnosed with Garbhashayamukha vrana sopha . She was treated with the single drug Bhandira (Clerodenrum viscoum Vent.) in the form of root powder for internal administration for 2 months, and the ointment prepared from Bhandira ghrita was used for local application at the cervix, i.e. Yoni pratisarana for 5 days following menstrual period in two consecutive cycles from the period of August 31 to October 30, 2023, and reports repeated after follow-up (2 months) in January 1 st 2024. Outcome variables were changes in Pap smear and colposcopy findings, as well as changes in associated symptoms. The treatment was effective in regressing CIN 1 to normal colposcopy, with a reduction in colposcopy Swede score from 7/10 to 0/10, as well as reduction in subjective symptoms. The patient was still under follow-up and showed no recurrence on yearly Pap smear or Colposcopy.
