Sequenced, Not Stirred: Positioning CAR T and Bispecific Antibody Therapy in Multiple Myeloma

Rahul Banerjee

Summary:

In this issue of Blood Cancer Discovery, Merz and colleagues study more than 600 recipients of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR T) and/or bispecific antibody therapy in multiple myeloma with an emphasis on patients who received both modalities sequentially. They find a clear progression-free survival advantage when CAR T therapy was used first; importantly, because outcomes with both modalities were similar when following progression after the converse modality, this advantage was driven by CAR T therapy’s up-front benefits.
