Seizing Opportunity: Riverbend University’s Decision to Invest in Infrastructure

Johnny D. Jones

Abstract

Riverbend University, an institution facing worsening infrastructure and low morale among its stakeholders, has a critical opportunity: the chance to acquire a new property with federal funding. This investment could rejuvenate the university and improve its academic environment. However, conflicting opinions among key stakeholders, including the university’s president, alumni, and the board of finance committee, complicate the decision-making process. This case study examines the factors influencing Riverbend University’s decision and considers the implications for its future. It also offers insights into strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and risk management in higher education.
