Seeing and Being Seen

Medical gaslighting is a significant barrier to care, and it contributes to delays in accurate diagnosis. Implicit bias is a factor in medical gaslighting, as is the absence or decline of caregiver empathy. Regeneration of skills such as empathy, listening, and creating psychological safety for patients is as important as maintaining more technical clinical skills. Patient advocacy is not possible if patients do not feel seen and heard.
