Screening Academic Achievement: Review of the Peabody Individual Achievement Test-Revised

The Peabody Individual Achievement Test–-Revised (PIAT-R) is reviewed in this article. This popular assessment measure has been updated in two major ways. First, the addition of a Written Expression subtest and the replacement of most of the items from the other subtests are intended to reflect changes in current curricular content. Second, undated norms were used to reflect more recent census information. Other changes in the test include the reordering of the subtests and redesigned test plates. Technical information is reviewed and limitations and appropriate uses of the instrument are addressed.
