IgA Pemphigus in a Patient With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( SLE ): A Novel Association, With Combined Epidermal Intercellular IgA

Kelley Sharp, Tessora Chang, Jun Lu, Michael Murphy

ABSTRACT

We describe the novel occurrence of IgA pemphigus in a patient with long‐standing systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). SLE can be associated with the development of other autoimmune conditions, including cutaneous immunobullous disorders. To our knowledge, the co‐occurrence of IgA pemphigus and SLE has not been previously reported in the literature. Potential common pathophysiological mechanisms are discussed.
