Scientific Reports at the Bureau of the Department of Earth Sciences of RAS in 2025

The article is devoted to a review of scientific reports presented in 2025 by members of the Department of Earth Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ONZ RAS) and scientists from institutes under its scientific guidance. During the meetings of the ONZ RAS Bureau, scientists presented the history of research, key results of modern scientific work, advanced methods and techniques, as well as current problems, trends, and prospects. The Department of Earth Sciences of RAS also held separate scientific sessions within the framework of meetings conducted jointly with the academic councils of institutes under its scientific guidance. Representatives from the Research Institute of Comprehensive Exploitation of Mineral Resources and the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry RAS presented the history of their institutes, key research, achievements, and future plans. Based on the presented materials, it is concluded that in 2025, the key research conducted by the institutes of the Department of Earth Sciences of RAS were distinguished by the diversity and relevance of themes. The importance of both fundamental and applied work was often emphasized. Central topics included the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Kamchatka Earthquake, Russian seismology, and the rational use of the country’s natural resources amid climatic changes. The scientific results represent a significant contribution to the scientific and technological development of Russia. This work is based on reviews of meetings published in the Vestnik ONZ RAS, recordings of broadcasted scientific sessions, and materials from the author’s archive.
