Background Management research has grown substantially over the past few decades, driven by globalization, digital transformation, sustainability challenges, and technological innovation. These developments have also transformed scholarly communication, with collaborative and interdisciplinary research increasingly replacing single-author publications. Scientometric analysis provides a systematic approach to evaluating research productivity, collaboration patterns, and scholarly impact. Method The study employs a scientometric approach using 2,981 Scopus-indexed publications of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (1967–2025). The data were analyzed using bibliometric indicators, including publication growth, authorship patterns, degree of collaboration, author productivity (Lotka's Law), and keyword co-occurrence analysis through VOSviewer. Results The findings reveal a substantial increase in research productivity, particularly during the last decade, indicating the institute's growing research capacity and global academic visibility. Collaborative research dominates the publication output, with a Degree of Collaboration of 0.75, reflecting the increasing importance of interdisciplinary and multi-authored research. The author productivity pattern does not conform to the classical Lotka's inverse-square law; instead, the estimated Lotka exponent (n ≈ 2.88) indicates a steeper decline in author productivity. Conclusion The study demonstrates the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad’s evolution into a highly productive, collaborative, and internationally recognized research institution.
