Patients and Methods

- This study was carried out at the Radiology Department, Ain shams University Hospitals. Twenty-eight patients with ankle pain underwent ultrasound (US) examination.

Results

abnormalities were found in 54% of the examinations performed. The abnormalities were more common in female patients accounting for 57 % of the abnormalities detected. The most common finding was joint effusion/synovitis seen in 26% of the patients.

Conclusion

ankle US was able to identify a large number of pathologies. This demonstrates the usefulness of US in the evaluation of a patient with ankle pain.
