Hasan Mahmud Faisal, Nasir UddinThis study aims at exploring the role of solar energy technology in implementing Digital Bangladesh in coastal areas like the Kutubdia Island in Cox's Bazar. In attaining the objective, two unions, namely Boroghop and Ali Akbar Dail were selected for survey in the study. It is evident that solar energy in both unions has been playing an imperative role in accelerating Digital Bangladesh in coastal areas. There is a divergence nature of educational qualification and occupations in both unions. The solar energy in this region has been used for more than 15 years. It is considerably noted that households in both unions have more than one source of energy. Besides solar energy, generator and conventional electricity are used both in their home and workplace. About more than fourth-fifths of respondents expressed their satisfaction about using solar energy due to cheaper installation cost. It is also evident that there is an optimistic scenario of using digital devices of information technology in both of the unions. There are heaps of scopes from different angles to lead work on solar energy or = Digital Bangladesh’. Further to this, lack of affordability and lack of interest of common people are widely barriers for uninstallation of solar technology.
