Rethinking the structural framework of catalogues of composers' works: A systematic classification model
Magdalini KalopanaThis paper reviews the typology of thematic and non-thematic catalogues of composers' works, focusing on the model established by Ludwig von Köchel and its subsequent methodological reception. While early Greek catalogues followed international standards, challenges emerged in the description and grouping of the fields that works belonged to, and above all in the classification of works within systematic catalogues. With regard to the latter, the relevant literature offers no consistent model. Drawing on archival research and academic instruction, this study rethinks the structural framework of catalogues of works and proposes a flexible systematic classification model.
