Retained Caterpillar Hair in the Cornea Confirmed by Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography

Dipanjali Majumder

Abstract

Ophthalmia nodosa is an inflammatory ocular condition caused by embedded insect hairs. We report a case of retained caterpillar hair in the corneal stroma of a 50-year-old woman, confirmed using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT). Despite prior treatment, retained setae persisted and were successfully removed under aseptic conditions. AS-OCT proved valuable in precise localization and management planning.
