Abstract

In 2026, a survey of users’ experiences was conducted to assess the portal’s added value for implementers and decision-makers comprehensively. The survey provides information on the reactions of health promotion professionals on the launch of the portals, their needs and how the portal might support the uptake of projects and programs to promote health promotion and health equity and facilitate structural change. During the workshop, we will discuss the feedback gathered during the iterative development process and present the results of the user survey. Between 2024 and 2025, the Competence Centre for Future Health Promotion developed a core concept for a good practice portal on health promotion in Austria, which was implemented in two thematic prototype portals focusing on the psychosocial health of young people and healthy ageing. The assessment scheme for good practices was created iteratively through literature research, the incorporation of experience with similar portals, testing, and stakeholder feedback. The scheme also incorporates assessment criteria used by the Austrian Health Promotion Fund (FGÖ) in the context of project funding, leveraging synergies and facilitating the seamless transfer of funded projects to the portal. So far, the project database of the FGÖ has mainly comprised practical projects and tools without a systematic assessment of transferability and effectiveness. The scheme covers four overarching assessment categories: quality criteria of health promotion; transferability; research-based impact assumptions and impact models and evaluation of effectiveness. Health equity is one of the key categories used to assess the quality criteria for health promotion.
