Resilience-Based Framework for Optimal Bridge Restoration Prioritization under an Earthquake Scenario
Youngjae Bae, Minjae Kim, Yangrok Choi, Jung Sik KimThe Gyeongju and Pohang earthquakes highlighted the need for systematic post-earthquake restoration planning in Korea. In this study, a resilience-based bridge restoration framework was proposed that incorporates seismic damage, road network performance, and the restoration process, and is applied to the Pohang area. Bridge damage is evaluated using a ground-motion prediction equation and seismic fragility curves, and its effect on road network performance is assessed through traffic network analysis. A genetic algorithm is used to determine the bridge restoration sequence that maximizes resilience under limited restoration resources. The proposed framework enables the development and quantitative evaluation of efficient, resilience-based restoration strategies.
