Research priorities for sexual and reproductive health, equity, and access in a post- Roe context

Danielle DeCosta, Sheila Desai, Nikita Malcolm, Elizabeth L. Cope

Since the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization , state-level laws governing health care provision and access have increased. While the current legal landscape has devastating consequences for abortion, evidence suggests ripple effects on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care and equity broadly. A coordinated, robust body of research is needed to understand, anticipate, and respond to the far-reaching consequences of this ruling. This commentary brings together perspectives from the SRH and health services fields to present six research priorities that researchers, funders, policymakers, and advocates can leverage to advance SRH care access and equity.
