Research into Urban Design in Architectural Sciences

Authors not available

Cities are constantly changing living environments in which social life, cultural heritage, and environmental processes find spatial expression. Climate change, population movements, technological transformation, and pressures on resources require decisions concerning the future of cities to be approached with a more comprehensive understanding. Within this context, urban design is gaining importance as an interdisciplinary field of thought and practice that considers spatial quality, social needs, ecological relationships, and local identity together. Research into Urban Design in Architectural Sciences brings together fourteen chapters on public space and social justice, social capital in urban design competitions, climate-sensitive planning, heritage conservation and the historic urban landscape, accessible design, collective memory, tactical urbanism, morphological conservation, adaptive facades, symbolism in public spaces, urban furniture, traditional houses, plant–human interactions, and daylighting in residential architecture.

The volume aims to advance the body of knowledge concerning urban space, a shared area of interest within the architectural sciences, to support critical assessments, and to provide a reference for further research. It is intended for academics, researchers, graduate students, and practitioners, providing a foundation for strengthening the relationship between scientific knowledge and spatial practice.
