Remodeling of the mandibular condyle in patients with skeletal distal occlusion after bicuspid orthognathic surgery with simultaneous articular disc reposition
M.A. Mokhirev, Z.I. KulumbegovAdstract The adaptation of the temporomandibular joint after orthognathic surgery remains an important research topic, given its impact on the functional and aesthetic outcomes of treatment in the long term. This study aims to review the literature on changes in the morphology and position of the condylar head in patients who underwent bicuspid orthognathic surgery to correct skeletal distal occlusion, both with and without articular disc reposition. The literature search was conducted in the PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases and covered publications published from 2020 to 2023.
