Abstract

Arkot 1510a (Reg. no. GP‐1177, PI 710314), Arkot 1510b (Reg. no. GP‐1178, PI 710315), Arkot 1511 (Reg. no. GP‐1179, PI 710316), and Arkot 1519 (Reg. no. GP‐1180, PI 710317) are conventional cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) germplasm lines released by the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station in 2026. Arkot 1510a and Arkot 1510b are sister lines derived from crossing UA222 with Ark 0615‐49, a breeding line derived from crossing Arkot 9706 and Arkot JJ46. Arkot 1511 was derived from a cross between UA222 and LA 11309060. Arkot 1519 was derived from crossing Arkot 0409 and an undisclosed industry line. In replicated field tests at three Arkansas sites over 4 years, the four lines produced higher lint yields than UA222 and UA48. Arkot 1510b produced higher lint yields but lower fiber quality than Arkot 1510a. Wide adaptation of the lines was indicated by the high lint yields of the lines in the 2023 Regional Breeders Testing Network and Regional High Quality tests. The four Arkot lines displayed high resistance to bacterial blight and equal or higher resistance to tarnished plant bugs than UA222. Arkot 1519 was later maturing than UA222, while the range of maturity of the other three lines was between that of UA222 and UA48. Plant (leaf, stem, and bract) trichomes varied among the lines, with Arkot 1510b being more similar to UA48, while the other three resembled UA222. Yield component values of the four lines tended to be closer to UA222 than to UA48. Fiber quality of Arkot 1510a and Arkot 1511 was equal to that of UA48, while the quality of the other two was closer to that of UA222.
