Reframing Peace Praxis

Michael Ogunnusi

Abstract

This chapter is concerned with peace praxis through a critical lens that recognises colonial legacies and the unjust inequality that permeates everyday life. Through Galtung, Freire, and Sztompka, the chapter foregrounds ideas of peace, violence, dialogue, and the micro dynamics of social action. The chapter critiques whose peace is legitimised and how conflict and war centred epistemologies continue to structure peace research. The chapter closes by naming the distorting impact of a cultural Pólemologic narrative that perpetuates patterns of conflict encoding, binary thinking, and peace attention deficit.
