Reductionism in an international entrepreneurship game

Precha Thavikulwat

The attributes of an international-entrepreneurship game, GEO, are explained, together with the game’s potential for assessment and research. The explanation is bookended by two questions: Why do nations trade? What determines the international success and failure of firms? Screenshots show examples of data available to players. The purpose of the game, to motivate reasoning rather than learning; the principle of reality over realism; and the advantages of reductionism for education and research are addressed.
