Reducing aromaticity of a hydrocarbon saddle with four fused heptagons by electron removal

Chemical oxidation of a saddle-shaped hydrocarbon with four continuous heptagons reduced the core aromaticity but retained negative curvature, as revealed by experimental and theoretical data.
