N. Cigdem Uluc

Abstract

Today, digital transformation has set new criteria and rules for the commercial business and sales ecosystem. The real-time access to information, power of data analytics enhancing marketing intelligence, changing dynamics of consumer behavior, ever-evolving marketing trends, new buying cycles, and increased players in the market require a relook at the future scope of buyer and customer roadmap where sales is the backbone of this commercial path for firms having profitability, sustainability, and growth targets in the highly competitive global market. In our digital era, the redesigned sales model, beyond the product, is expected to cover many concepts such as productivity, optimization, the total value of ownership, timely delivery, after-sales support, financing, IT facilities, legal, regulatory, and ethical aspects. The sales professionals should act as strategic advisors, bridging and orchestrating all internal company stakeholders and external stakeholders for successful business outcomes, aligning with the customer care abouts and leading the co-value creation. Today, we refer AI integration to sales with digital CRM tools, predictive analytics, and many other digital facilities supporting salesforce for data-driven interactive selling process. While this presents many opportunities for the organizations and for the sales professionals, such as faster track of customer leads, quick market intelligence for strategizing more efficiently, it definitely requires digitally adapted culture, competency in digital technologies and a customer-centric winning mindset with knowledge, commitment, agility and competitive differentiation.
