Recycled Supramolecular Plastics
Bo Qin, Xi ZhangSupramolecular polymers are polymeric arrays formed from monomers linked by highly directional and reversible non-covalent interactions, which impart polymeric properties both in solution and in bulk. Owing to the dynamic nature of these non-covalent interactions, supramolecular polymers exhibit unique characteristics such as reversibility, stimuli-responsiveness, self-healing, and recyclability. In this chapter, we introduce the methods and strategies for the controllable fabrication of supramolecular polymers and highlight the development of recycled supramolecular plastics based on non-covalent interactions. It is evident that the inherent dynamic properties of supramolecular polymers complement traditional polymeric materials represent a growing area of research, integrating supramolecular chemistry with polymer science.
