A complicated case of fibrotic, necrotic and gangrenous mastitis in a Beetal goat (3 yr old) was presented for treatment. Radical bilateral mastectomy was performed under general anaesthesia and wound was sutured by placing a drain under the subcutaneous tissue. Neutrophilia and inflammation were observed in necrotic udder tissue on histopathology examination. After surgery, the goat recovered uneventfully, highlighting the role of surgery in preserving goats for reproduction despite lactation loss.
