Putting Sustaining into Perspective

Pasi Heikkurinen

Abstract

Chapter 7 positions the process of sustainability with perspectivism. It is claimed to be more-than-a-perspective, an orientation. The chapter provides a definition of and scrutinizes the relevance of encountering; the nature of gifts and actual intelligence; enactor–enabler relations in intrinsicality; a metaphor of the black door; the blurring of the line between intrinsic and extrinsic registers; the theory–practice divide; the misunderstanding of empirics; the concept of process vis-à-vis nature; the act of balancing and the skilful holism of, as well as for, the process orientation and the crucial significance for scholars on reflecting on their perspectives.
