Purposeful Population Health Policy

Dru Bhattacharya

Abstract

Population health policy is increasingly critical, driven by persistent health disparities and the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on healthcare systems. This book addresses the urgent need for innovative approaches to advancing health equity, particularly where healthcare policy development intersects with enhancing team dynamics, collaboration, and patient care. Drawing on the author’s tripartite experiences as a scientist, scholar, and healthcare executive, it offers evidence-based, pragmatic solutions grounded in both rigorous research and real-world practice. The book introduces 10 foundational steps guiding purposeful population health policy and population health management, offering practical deliverables such as model strategies, policies, and action plans aligned with national standards, and illustrating each through real-world case studies. By bridging theory and practice, this work prepares the next generation of health professionals to lead with purpose and advance equity—and issues a call to action to effect meaningful change in their communities
