Background
Adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) face an increased risk of emotional and behavioural problems but validated mental health tools are limited in Catalan and Spanish. We evaluated the Catalan and Spanish ADAMS versions in adults with ID.
Methods
Proxy informants completed the ADAMS for 240 adults with mild‐to‐severe ID from community and residential services. The sample was 57.9% female, with a mean age of 36.5 years (SD = 11.9). Assessments occurred at baseline and 7 days later.
Results
Internal consistency was acceptable ( α = 0.72–0.73). The five‐factor model showed moderate fit (CFI = 0.82–0.83) and acceptable fit (RMSEA = 0.047–0.048). Test–retest reliability was excellent (CCC = 0.87–0.96), with low measurement error and no systematic bias.
Conclusions
Both versions showed good reliability and temporal stability, with partial support for structural validity, supporting proxy‐based screening and monitoring in adults with ID.
