Psychological distress and seizure-related risks in forcibly displaced children: impending crisis triggered by wars and conflicts
Asma Hallab, Arjune SenSummary
Seizure disorders, particularly epilepsy, are among the most prevalent and treatable neurological conditions, with high rates in forcibly displaced children. Although children represent around 40% of forcibly displaced people, limited research and data regarding this vulnerable group are available. Seizures and mental health disorders are very stigmatised conditions that generally remain undisclosed and, consequently, are poorly managed. Here, we spotlight this particular at-risk group to seed broad awareness and enable positive change.
