The objectives of this study were to study the effect of adding plant extracted saponin (PES) as a phytochemical feed additive on Protein Degradable and Undegradable Fraction Profiles and Their Total Supply of blend pelleted feed products in ruminant systems. Four levels of PES (0, 1, 2, 3%) were added to canola meal and pea mixtures with 50 to 50 ratio which was used to make Prairie blend pellet feed products. The blend pelleted feed products were produced at Canadian Feed Research Center (CFRC, University of Saskatchewan, Canada). The protein degradable and undegradable fraction profiles and their total supply were determined using the updated Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System. The experimental design was a CRD with the PES dosage level as a fixed effect. The data was analyzed using Mixed Model Procedure of SAS. Orthogonal polynomial contract was used to determine linear and quadratic relationship between PES dosage level and nutritional values. The results showed that with increasing PES level from 0 to 3%, the insoluble protein fraction (PB1) was quadratically increased (P = 0.044) from 14.1 to 15.3 % DM, therefore rumen degradable (RDPB1) and the undegradable protein PB1 fractions (RUPB1) were also quadratically increased (P = 0.048) from 6.9 to 7.5 % DM and 7.2 to 7.9 %DM, respectively. However, the dosage of PES did not have significant impact on the soluble crude protein (PA2), the fiber-bound protein (PB2), and indigestible protein fraction (PC). Although, adding PES to Prairie blend pellet feed products significantly affected protein subfractions (PB1, RDPB1, RUPB1), it did not significantly impact total degradable protein supply (TRDP) to ruminants with average of 21.3 %DM, respectively. Adding PES to Prairie blend pellet feed products tended to quadratically increase (P = 0.061) total undegradable protein supply (TRUP) from 10.9 to 11.7 %DM. In conclusion, adding PES at the current levels to the blend pellet feed products significantly impact on energy values but the blend pellet feed products has significant impact on digestible nutrient and energy values.
