Vidya Rashmi, Madhu Kumar, Gagan Chhabra

Abstract

Primary vaginal malignant melanoma is a highly uncommon and biologically aggressive neoplasm, representing fewer than 1% of all melanomas and under 3% of malignant tumors of the vagina. It predominantly occurs in postmenopausal women, and its presentation in young females is therefore exceptionally rare. We report a case of primary vaginal malignant melanoma in a 32-year-old woman, emphasizing the histopathological features and the role of immunohistochemistry in establishing the diagnosis. Awareness of this rare entity is essential for accurate diagnosis through combined histopathology and immunohistochemistry and appropriate clinical management.
