Primary bony lesion of orbit – A rare case report of ossifying fibroma and its diagnostic challenge
Lingaraj Balihallimath, S R Lavanya, Manjunath Abbigeri, Manika Alexander, Atal Revankar, Smriti RaniA 28-year-old Caucasian female presented with a painless, progressive left brow swelling of one year’s duration, causing mild mechanical ptosis and cosmetic deformity. Clinical examination revealed a hard, well-circumscribed, immobile mass. While preoperative magnetic resonance imaging suggested a periorbital intraosseous hemangioma, total surgical excision with 1 mm margins via a supraorbital brow incision was performed. Histopathology postoperatively confirmed the lesion as an ossifying fibroma. At the 2-year follow-up, the patient remained asymptomatic with an excellent cosmetic outcome and no evidence of recurrence. This case emphasizes the necessity of histopathological verification for periorbital fibro-osseous lesions.
