Price monitoring in the fast moving consumer goods industry
Nikica Popović, Tijana Đurković-Marić, Jelena PetkovićThe paper explores the role of business intelligence (BI) and data visualization tools in price monitoring and pricing strategy development within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. Using the Power BI tool, a report was developed to enable the analysis of deviation indices, price movements, and promotional activities based on real data collected through Web scraping. The results indicate that an integrated approach to price tracking and visual analytics significantly improves the quality of managerial decision-making, enables timely reactions to changes in competitor and consumer behavior, and contributes to more accurate market positioning. The application of business intelligence tools has been confirmed to increase transparency, efficiency, and the speed of analysis, while data visualization facilitates the identification of deviations and market trends. A particularly important aspect is the possibility of integrating dynamic pricing into retail strategies through transparent monitoring and timely consumer information. The next phase of research foresees the implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, which would enable the development of predictive models and automatic price adjustments in real time.
