Pressure broadening of the 3–0 overtone band of CO by neon and nitrogen

McBaneLine shapes in the second overtone band of carbon monoxide broadened by neon and nitrogen have been determined at room temperature by diode laser absorption spectroscopy. Measurements were made across the P branch from P(1) to P(24). Quadratic speed-dependent Voigt line shape parameters are reported. The agreement with earlier reports of N2 broadening is very good. The neon-broadened lines are compared with theoretically modeled Dicke-narrowed line shapes computed with the generalized Hess approach. The theoretical line shapes agree with the measured ones to within 1%, but some systematic disagreements remain.
