Preparatory Remarks on This Endeavour

Chapter 1 provides guidance for the reader by alluring them to focus on observation, that is, to perceive and reflect on what is happening in this very moment and place in the text and context as well as between the reader and the book. It encourages the reader to open up to sense-getting, in addition to attempting to make sense of the book and give meaning to it. This chapter also calls for accepting ‘we’ as a collective enactor, a unit of analysis, despite the problems related to its vagueness. Me writing this and you reading this, as well as our discussions of this, are part of the ‘we’.
