PRE-PROCEDURAL ANXIETY IN CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY: IMPACT OF MEDICAL HISTORY AND PRIOR INTERVENTIONS

Objective: This study aimed to determine whether patients’ anxiety levels before coronary angiography differed from their baseline (trait) anxiety levels, to identify factors contributing to these differences, and to explore potential interventions to reduce pre-procedural anxiety. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional, observational study included 111 patients aged 18 years and older who were scheduled for elective coronary angiography. Collected data included demographic characteristics (age, gender, height, weight), medical history, comorbidities, and history of previous surgeries or coronary interventions. Anxiety levels were assessed using the state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) — form TX-I for state anxiety and form TX-II for trait anxiety.
