Practitioner’s Insights on Climate and Security from Somalia

Joshua William Busby

This is an update from a previous interview with Christophe Hodder, the United Nations’ Climate Security Advisor for Somalia. In this interview, Hodder recounts how the work has progressed in Somalia, including efforts to mainstream climate security thinking in strategic documents and efforts to put that work into practice through pilot programs and other practical efforts, including reservoir restoration projects. In this interview, Hodder reflects on changes in the UN mission and the wider policy and funding environment as well as efforts to coordinate with other climate security advisors in the UN system.
