Practical Considerations for PowerRibbon® Bonding of Hybrid Packages

PowerRibbon® development started at Orthodyne in 2000 and was first used in mass production in 2004. Today, PowerRibbon® is a robust process used in a variety of applications around the world, including automotive power modules for popular hybrid cars. Production experience has proven the performance, cost and productivity advantages of ribbon, and in today’s market, it is a valuable tool for maximizing competitiveness. This paper is an overview of the steps needed to implement a PowerRibbon® production process.
