Postcards from Aotearoa: a reflection on Nordic gifted education from New Zealand
Tracy Lipscomb RileyThis chapter draws on personal reflections from over three decades of involvement in gifted and talented education in Aotearoa New Zealand, using the metaphor of a postcard to illustrate the evolving landscape of the field in the Nordic region. Just as postcards have historically captured and communicated moments in time, the narrative explores how changes, initiatives, and challenges in gifted education mirror broader social and political shifts. The chapter presents a series of “postcards” – vignettes that delve into policy sustainability, teacher education, and research within a changing context.
