Possible Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated With Streptococcal Infections (
PANDAS
) Presenting in Late Adolescence and Early Adulthood: A Case Series
Tariq A. Madani, Fahd S. Alsallum, Ola H. Abudaowd, Salman T. Madani ABSTRACT
PANDAS‐like syndromes may rarely occur beyond childhood. Although these patients may meet criteria for PANS, recognizing a possible streptococcal‐triggered subgroup remains important for diagnosis, future biomarker discovery, and refinement of disease classification. Clinicians should consider post‐infectious autoimmune neuropsychiatric syndromes in older patients with abrupt‐onset OCD or tics following pharyngeal illness.
