Possibilities of digital technologies in solving problems of municipal solid waste management in the Komi Republic

TihonovaDigitalisation in the field of waste management contributes to the transition to a circular economy through optimisation of logistics and data collection, transparent control, sorting and building interaction. The purpose of the study was to identify digital solutions that contribute to the implementation of regional directions of the circular economy. The scientific novelty lies in the analysis of statistical processing of data on the introduction of digital technologies in organisations in the field of MSW management and the identification of areas of digital support under the Komi Republic Program for the Transition to a Closed Cycle Economy. As a result of the study, a different degree of use of digital technologies has been proven. The most widespread in their activities are electronic document management, electronic exchange of data on the formats for sending statistical and tax reports, reference legal systems and information security programs. But, the level of implementation is comparable to the national one, with the exception of the use of artificial intelligence technologies and RFID technology. The use of application programs in the region is higher in many positions than the national average, except for the use of design and modeling programs. A comparative analysis of the distribution of digital solutions among the sectors of nature management in the region determined mainly the outsider positions of the MSW management sector. The continuity of positive experience lies in the consolidation of skills in handling existing technologies; their wider distribution in the activities of organizations and the implementation of analytical programs using artificial intelligence. To implement measures to transition to a circular economy, a list of digital solutions has been proposed, the implementation of which should contribute to their implementation.
