Planning, doing, and disseminating research syntheses

Abstract

This chapter introduces a newly launched international journal on research synthesis in Applied Linguistics, published by Taylor & Francis. As the editors-in-chief, we reflect on the process of establishing the first journal in Applied Linguistics dedicated to publishing research syntheses. We outline the journal’s aims, scope, and submission categories, and share our vision for how it would contribute to advancing discussions and debates on research synthesis methodologies within and beyond the field. In particular, we detail initiatives to promote methodological rigour of research syntheses through pre-registration, use of a field-specific methodological guide, and open-access infographics dissemination.
