ABSTRACT

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), as an anisotropic material, poses significant challenges to the design and performance of anchorage systems. In this study, a planar clamping anchorage (PCA) applicable to multi‐layer CFRP plate cables is first developed, and corresponding design methods for key components are established. Subsequently, the anchorage performance of PCA is investigated through static tensile tests, in which the interface treatment methods and the number of CFRP layers are considered as the primary influencing parameters. Finally, the underlying mechanisms governing interfacial slip or debonding between the ear plates and CFRP plates are elucidated. Based on these, optimization recommendations for the anchorage configuration are proposed, and a calculation method for the shear capacity of the net section of the clips is derived. The results indicate that for CFRP plate cables with different numbers of layers, the anchorage efficiency of PCA exceeds 90%. Compared with pure friction anchorage, the friction‐adhesion coupling anchorage significantly enhances the anchorage efficiency. As the number of layers increases, the average anchorage stress sustained by each individual CFRP plate exhibits a decreasing trend. The introduction of additional clamping plates between the ear plates and the outermost CFRP plates is recommended to optimize the load‐transfer path and suppress interfacial failure.
