Piano Performance Stress Response and Coping Strategies: The Alleviating Effect of Mental Practice on Stage Psychological Pressure

Objective
Piano performers commonly suffer from intense stage psychological pressure during public performances, which triggers nervous and disordered mental states, induces negative stress responses, impairs playing performance, and seriously affects long-term performance mental health. Traditional skill training neglects psychological regulation. This study explores the intervention effect of mental practice on performance stress, aiming to relieve stage psychological pressure, stabilize performers’ mental states and improve their occupational mental health.
Subjects and Methods
This study takes piano learners and professional performers as research subjects. It adopts controlled performance experiments, psychological stress scale tests and comparative statistical analysis. It collects and compares changes in stage psychological pressure, real-time mental states and mental health levels before and after mental practice intervention, and summarizes effective stress coping strategies.
Results
Scientific mental practice effectively reduces performers’ pre-performance and on-stage psychological pressure, relieves anxious and tense negative mental states caused by performance stress, improves psychological adaptability, significantly optimizes performance mental states, and achieves positive promotion effects on performers’ mental health.
Conclusions
Mental practice is an effective auxiliary strategy to cope with piano performance stress. Long-term standardized mental training can continuously alleviate performers’ cumulative stage psychological pressure, regulate fluctuating mental states, maintain stable and positive psychological quality, protect performers’ occupational mental health, and support stable and high-level piano performance presentation.
