Phytochemical and In-Vitro Antioxidant Activity of Sesbania Grandiflora L. Leaves.
Shyam D. Naiknaware, Ambadas S. Kadam, Laxmikant H. KambleSesbania grandiflora L., a nutritionally and medicinally important plant. Present investigation was undertaken to find out phytochemical contents and in vitro antioxidant activity of the leaf extract from this plant, which showed.presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, phenols, tannins, proteins, saponins, carbohydrates, and steroids. Antioxidant activity was measured using the DPPH free-radical scavenging assay, which showed strong free-radical neutralizing ability, indicating effective hydrogen-donating capacity of the extract. The findings suggest that S. grandiflora L. leaves are a good source of phytochemicals and antioxidants, supporting their potential use them in nutraceutical, therapeutic, and pharmaceutical products.
